Why trucking, why now
Large trucks are involved in hundreds of thousands of crashes a year in the United States, and thousands of lives are lost. A substantial share of front-to-rear crashes could be prevented by driver-assistance technology that already exists. Autonomy done rigorously is the next step.

How it is practised

Transparency
Stack routinely shares information about its safety protocols, and publishes a Voluntary Safety Self-Assessment.
Accountability
Employees are encouraged to share ideas, voice concerns and ask questions, with anonymous ethics reporting available around the clock.
Independent oversight
A Safety Advisory Council of former leaders from the NTSB, FMCSA, NHTSA, FBI and major transportation companies reviews the work from outside.
Readiness
A First Responder Interaction Plan sets out how police, fire and emergency crews engage with a Stack truck on the road.
